OttoFinestre

La Casa degli Specchi, un grandissimo edificio che fa angolo fra due vie piuttosto strette, nasce nel 1960 da un progetto di Luzi.
Sorge nel quartiere di San Salvario Valentino  con un involucro pieghettato di laterizio, arricchito da un  andamento obliquo di finestre e balconi a bow window.
 
OttoFinestre, spazio nato verso la fine del 2022, ha un ampiezza di 250 metri quadrati.
Lastre di vetro, strutture in ferro nero ed acciaio che si susseguono in un’articolazione che esalta le tensioni verticali ed orizzontali, si elevano da un pavimento scavato da un antico marmo grigio scuro, creando quel contrasto fra materiale naturale e non, capace di stimolare la mente e l’immaginazione in modo creativo.
 
Otto enormi finestre perimetrate da altrettante vetrine offuscate sull’interno che danno direttamente sulle due strade, favoriscono la penetrazione della luce all’interno dello spazio, pur mantenendo la sua dimensione intima di casa privata. Lo spazio è una dimostrazione di quel concetto di vuoto che fa sì che “la realtà del recipiente è nel vuoto che contiene”, vuoto come valore a sé stante.  Il tratto caratteristico è la volumetria dinamica, la proiezione all’esterno dell’interno e viceversa, l’uso di vetrine-finestre a nastro continuo, così da far divenire il tutto un unico grande spazio atto ad accogliere mostre ed esposizioni.
 
Un nuovo centro di incontro, scontro e condivisione, dove la cultura rivela il suo ruolo di catalizzatore sociale e riconosce all’arte il desiderio, il gioco di unire, riattivare gli spazi in cui viviamo, dando la possibilità ai cittadini di esplorare e vivere il loro animo attivo e partecipativo all’interno della società.
 
Una casa che accoglie, ospita e protegge e che allo stesso tempo si apre come un cortile verso la città e la strada prendendo parte al fervore, alla vita e alla sua energia.

The House of Mirrors, a very large building located on the corner of two rather narrow streets, was built in 1960 from a project by Luzi. It is located in the San Salvario Valentino district, with a folded brick exterior enriched by an oblique arrangement of windows and bow window balconies.

OttoFinestre, a space born towards the end of 2022, has an area of 250 square meters. Glass slabs, black iron and steel structures that follow a pattern that enhances the vertical and horizontal tensions, rise from a floor excavated from an ancient dark gray marble, creating that contrast between natural and non-natural material, capable of stimulating the mind and imagination in a creative way.

Eight enormous windows surrounded by equally hazy internal showcases that directly overlook the two streets, favor the penetration of light inside the space, while maintaining its intimate dimension as a private home. The space is a demonstration of that concept of emptiness that makes “the reality of the container is in the void that it contains,” emptiness as a value in itself. The characteristic feature is the dynamic volumetrics, the projection of the interior to the exterior and vice versa, the use of continuous ribbon windows, in order to make everything become a single large space suitable for hosting exhibitions and shows.

A new center of meeting, confrontation and sharing, where culture reveals its role as a social catalyst and recognizes in art the desire, the game of uniting and reactivating the spaces in which we live, giving citizens the opportunity to explore and experience their active and participatory spirit within society.

A house that welcomes, hosts and protects and at the same time opens up like a courtyard towards the city and the street, taking part in the fervor, life and energy of it all.
